About Nathiagali
|
|
|
|
|
Nathiagali is a scenic hill resort lodge in the
sylvan slopes of the lower Himalayan range. Perched at the height of
2600 meters in the forest studded hills, it is about three hours drive
toward north east of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. A small
village known only to those seeking escape from the heat and with
penchant for enjoying natural beauty, it became the venue of a yearly
activity of intellectual discourse of the highest level in this part of
the world.

The college is held as
a residential institution in local hotels situated amongst rolling
green fields and towering forested hills, pervading the senses with
a deep feeling of rediscovering nature. With the snow-clad views of
Nanga Parbat and other Karakorum peaks, a cool and bracing climate
heavy with the scent of firs and pines, and ablaze in a riot of
colour presented by roses, cherries and wild flowers, it provides an
excellent blend of tranquil atmosphere conductive for learning and
enjoying nature's beauty at its best. |

Gentle walks abound in
the forested hills and, for the more enterprising, Miranjani Peak
(2970 meters) and Mukshpuri Peak (2820 meters) offer challenging
hikes. The valley below is deep and hiking pathways to it are
excitingly irregular. From October to March, the once lush green
world turns into a white glistening fairyland. Other places of
interest include the hill resort of Ayubia and, further off, the
picturesque Murree, Bhurban and Patriata with their charismatic
charms. |
