Introduction

The National Center for Physics is starting a program to improve the knowledge base and teaching skills of educators at the Masters/BS level. The program aims in particular at addressing the needs of physics teachers at newly established universities or recently initiated BS/M.Sc. programs. The focus of the program is to address the issues being faced by teachers in concept development and in problem solving as a basic part of physics education. For this purpose, the NCP will organize a three week course at its premises from 1st to 20th August 2016. The course will consist of lectures, problem solving sessions and discussions with experienced faculty members from NCP, QAU and COMSATS etc.

  • This first course will cover the following 3 major disciplines at the M.Sc. level:
    • Mathematical Physics
    • Classical Mechanics
    • Electromagnetism
  • The course will be intensive with 6 interaction hours per day and selected participants would be expected to attend with full seriousness. Performance and participation will be assessed and Certificates of Participation and achievement will be awarded
  • Applications are invited from physics teachers at the M.Sc. and BS levels having at least a M.Sc. degree
  • Boarding and lodging for outstation participants would be provided free of cost
  • Due to a limited number of seats (40), participation is on first come first serve basis
